Shaman’s role in “A Gifted Man” (CBS)

A four winds shaman (fic­tional, but very true-to-life) and his energy med­i­cine is part of the new CBS series “A Gifted Man”. In the pre­view you can see bits and pieces — Patrick Wilson’s char­ac­ter comes to see the shaman to extract a soul of the dead loved woman who is haunt­ing him.

So.…. Extrac­tion, anyone?

Extrac­tion is a tool of the jun­gle shamans of the Ama­zon. I can extract ener­gies and enti­ties which tend to attach to people’s energy bod­ies. Their pres­ence can be very annoy­ing and show itself as a vari­ety of dif­fer­ent symp­toms — “not feel­ing like your­self”, feel­ing very emo­tional about a loved one who passed away a while ago, lit­er­ally being told what to do by the entity, etc. Dur­ing extrac­tion not only the entity is removed — we look as the ben­e­fits of hav­ing had the rela­tion­ship with it, which in 100% of cases is sym­bi­otic. Just like in “a Gifted Man” — we are not always ready to part with some­thing, because there is an unre­solved feel­ing behind all that super­fi­cial annoyance.

Notes on the trailer to “A Gifted Man” for the curi­ous ones — what on earth is the shaman doing there?

“To the winds of the South.…. Wrap your coils of light around us” — that’s part of the prayer that we say when we open sacred space before begin­ning of the work.

The shaman blows florida water into the air (smudg­ing) and makes a half-joke about “ster­il­iz­ing” his space. When I open my sacred space I do the same thing — it cleanses the space ener­get­i­cally and cre­ates a safe and pro­tected envi­ron­ment for energy work.

Rat­tling — that’s part of our work for many rea­sons, helps to relax, get out of the head, and is instru­men­tal in work­ing with the energy body.

Touch­ing the head — that’s part of the basic Illu­mi­na­tion process. I press the deep­en­ing and release points at the base of a person’s head to guide them deeper in their experience.

Stones — every shaman in this tra­di­tion has a mesa (you can see col­or­ful red woven cloth in the trailer) which is a portable altar, a bun­dle of med­i­cine stones (kuyas). Kuya is placed on the body dur­ing Illu­mi­na­tion (wher­ever the issue is mostly res­onat­ing)  and it helps to extract heavy ener­gies asso­ci­ated with the issue.
